SALT LAKE CITY (Oct. 16, 2025) – iFIT Health & Fitness has issued a nationwide recall of nearly 45,000 NordicTrack rowing machines due to a fire risk, according to a statement from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Fire Risk Linked to Console Overheating
The affected product, the NordicTrack RW900 Smart Rower (model number NTRW19147), poses a serious safety hazard. The recall includes machines in software versions .0, .1, .2, and .3.
CPSC reports that the rowing machine’s touchscreen console can overheat, potentially leading to fire. So far, eight incidents have been reported, including two fires and six cases of smoking or melting. The damage has caused over $6,000 in property losses. No injuries have been reported.
What Consumers Should Do
Consumers are urged to stop using the machines and unplug them immediately. iFIT is offering a free in-home repair, which includes replacing the console with a safer version.
To check if your rower is part of the recall, locate the serial number on the machine’s frame and contact iFIT directly via their recall support page or customer service hotline.
Where and When the Machines Were Sold
The recalled rowers were sold from November 2018 through April 2022 through major U.S. retailers including Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Amazon, and NordicTrack.com. About 700 additional units were sold in Canada.
