
WEST HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. — Tevin Williams,A 28-year-old man, was arrested and charged with attempted murder Monday after a domestic dispute turned violent in the Village of West Haverstraw, police said.
Police responded to a 911 call around 4:34 p.m. reporting an altercation involving two men and a weapon at a residence on Mackey Court. Officers from the Haverstraw Police Department arrived to find a male victim inside the home with a gunshot wound.
Victim Hospitalized, Suspect in Custody
Emergency aid was immediately administered to the victim by responding officers before he was transported to a local hospital. As of Monday evening, the victim remains under medical care. His identity has not been released.
Police arrested Tevin Williams, 28, who lives at the scene of the incident. Williams was taken into custody without further incident and processed at the Haverstraw Police Department.
Multiple Felony Charges Filed
Williams faces several serious felony charges, including:
- Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (PL 110/125.25 [1])
- Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree (PL 265.09 [1][a])
- Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (PL 265.02 [8])
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm (PL 265.01-b [1])
After arraignment in the Village of West Haverstraw Justice Court, Williams was remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility.
Investigation Ongoing
The Haverstraw Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the FBI–Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, and the Rockland County Intelligence Center.
Authorities have not released information about the events that led up to the shooting or the relationship between the two men.
