New York continues to have the most cases of Coronavirus in the US right now there are a total of more than 59,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 the death toll has surpassed 1000. New York City remains the epicenter of this pandemic with more than 33,000 cases. The death toll in the city is now at 776. That number increased by nearly 100 people in a single day.
Local Hospitals
As local hospitals become increasingly overwhelmed with patients of the floating hospital will arrive this morning to relieve some of the burdens. The USNS comfort will be arriving in docking here at pier 90 later on this morning. Anthony Fauci
Earlier in the day, Doctor Anthony Fauci issued a sobering estimate of the coronavirus death toll in the US. Anthony Fauci is predicting a potential death toll between 100,000 and 200,000. He cited that potential as a rationale for extending the social distancing rules until April 30th. He was quoted as saying, “The idea that we may have these many cases played a role in our decision and trying to make sure that we don’t do something prematurely and pull back when we should be pushing .”
100,000 and 200,000 Potential Deaths
The president agreed though he acknowledged the death toll may still be astronomical. Trump Commenting, “If we could hold that down as we’re saying to 100,000. it’s a horrible number maybe even less but 100,000 so we have between 100,000 and 200,000 we all together have done a very good job.” Officials in New York on the other hand according to the president are not doing a good job he claimed that demand for masks at a hospital he didn’t name jumped from between 10,000 and 20,000 week to about 300,000 a week With Trump Saying “something’s going on, and you want to look into it as reporters. Where are the masks, and are they going out the back door.”?
USNS Comfort
Today, Help is arriving at pier 90 in the form of a 70,000-ton ship called the USNS comfort .1000 bed vessel comes equipped with, among other things, 12 operating rooms of pharmacy and helicopter deck it will treat non-coronavirus patients to relieve strapped hospitals. Mayor Bill DeBlasio was commenting,” we are so so grateful to the Navy to the military that this new Help will be arriving in our city.”
And to accommodate that new health, the waters of the Hudson had to be dredged again to accommodate such a large ship Mayor DeBlasio will be here later on this morning around 11:45 to speak he says he looks forward to greeting all of the personnel onboard the comfort.
