As we approach February 14, Valentine’s Day, also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine. Chocolate, Flowers, jewelry, and dinner. Some Americans love spending money on Valentine’s Day. But you would be surprised just how much it’ll cost you. The average person will dish out about $200, but that’s up twenty-one percent from last year.

Sorry guys have the brunt of the gift-giving. It falls on you in as many of you will spend close to $300 on your significant others. Women only spend about half that. Let’s not leave out ourselves, coworkers, friends, and even our pets when did. A quarter of us are buying up treats for our four-legged friends, and those who are single aren’t letting the lonely hearts club stop them. They dished out more than $200 on average for themselves last year, Three times more than in 2018. So what are we actually spending money on? Candy, cards, and flowers were the most popular gifts, but when it comes to shelling out some real dough, jewelry tops the list.

Nearly 6 billion dollars will be spent on necklaces, bracelets, and rings. This year but before you pull out that credit card makes sure you find something your significant other wants. Over 9 billion dollars were spent on unwanted gifts in 2019. According to a Google survey, 30% of people wish experiential gifts, like concert tickets, so we can get away or even a simple night out. They’ll also be happy with chocolate, flowers, and jewelry. And what are the worst gifts to give? Gym memberships, tools, stuffed animals, and mixtapes.

 So if you’re spending on love, make sure it counts!
