Rockland County on pause now until June

ROCKLAND COUNTY – Governor Cuomo has just extended the stay at home order for New York State until June 13th, but five regions of the state can begin phase one of reopening today.

Rockland County

Rockland County is going to have to wait a little bit longer for uncensored normalcy. Governor Andrew Cuomo was announcing that new executive order late last night, saying that it is based on metrics and numbers. Starting today, the governor saying that 5 New York State Regions can begin phase one of reopening after an almost two-month-long shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Seven Metrics

Now those regions are central New York, North Country, Finger Lakes Southern Tier, and Mohawk Valley. According to the Governor, all five have met these Seven metrics required to begin reopening, meaning construction work can resume, and retailers can open with curbside an Instore pickup only.

As of May 14, 2020, the regions are Finger Lakes, Central New York, Mohawk Valley, Southern Tier, and the North Country regions comprising the counties of Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming, Yates Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, Oswego, Fulton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Oneida, Otsego, Schoharie, Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Delaware, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence.

Any additional regions which meet the criteria after such date will be deemed to be incorporated into this Executive Order without further revision and will be permitted to re-open phase one industries, subject to the same terms and conditions.

Long Island in the mid-Hudson Valley though are missing and two benchmarks of 14-day decline in deaths and the number of new hospitalizations. The city still needs to meet three more criteria, including it a decrease in the number of new hospitalizations and an increase in the total available hospital and ICU beds.

NYC not yet ready

Now earlier this week of Mayor Bill de Blasio said that this city is clearly not ready, yet he has been expecting to stay at home orders to remain in place into June. Meanwhile, though here in Central Park, park goers will likely see controlled access starting this weekend, meaning police officers will stand guard in monitor entrances to control the number of visitors at any given time. The program has already set limits, and two other city parks were also told that police officers would be handing out masks to Park-goers not already have them.

  1. Instead of locking down all of rockland, go through each town and target those areas. This June 13 extension is just not fair and unconstitutional. This is terrible. People need to speak up!

    • So you think the virus stops at the village/town border? Wow. Guess you haven’t listened to ANY of the FACTS or just wanted to see the replies you get. You’re an idiot. I’m in north Rockland & in just my own family & friends circles, we’ve lost 2 seniors, a 31 yo mom of 2, & 45 yo healthy man. Guessing you know better than the science & medical experts & Governor SMDH ???

      • You are ignorant to call me an idiot. It’s my opinion and you dont have to agree with me. It’s people like you that give liberals a bad name. Move on.
