ORANGEBURG, N.Y. — A Rockland County-based organization dedicated to aiding Haiti is hosting a forum Monday to discuss the work of its mobile health program in the Caribbean nation.
Rockland County Haiti Relief, founded in 2008 in response to Haiti’s severe food crisis and a series of devastating tropical storms, has focused on providing humanitarian aid, particularly through mobile health clinics. These clinics deliver critical medical services to underserved communities, including preventive care, vaccinations, maternal and child health support, and treatment for chronic illnesses.
The event is taking place in the Palisades Room at Dominican University in Orangeburg, drawing community members, local leaders—including U.S. Rep. Mike Lawler—and university students. Organizers say the discussion is particularly timely as Haiti continues to grapple with ongoing challenges.
“Our job as a Haitian American organization is to keep hope alive for Haiti,” organizers said.
The forum continues through the evening, with additional discussions scheduled at 5 p.m.
